Gowri Asiriah

I offer a warm, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive approach to counselling. With roots in Malaysia and over 27 years living in Aotearoa New Zealand, my prior career with migrant clients has enriched my cultural awareness and informs a practice that is sensitive, inclusive, and attuned to diverse experiences.

I work with young adults and adults navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, emotional regulation challenges, and the impacts of sexual harm. My practice balances short-term interventions such as safety planning, grounding, and stabilisation with longer-term trauma processing and recovery work.

Drawing on evidence-based therapies and culturally grounded models, I ensure support is respectful, relevant, and tailored to each client’s unique context. At the heart of my practice is a belief in people’s innate resilience. I walk alongside clients with empathy and respect, fostering hope and supporting them toward healing, growth, and stronger connections with themselves and others.
