Maryam Ardakani

"Healing begins in the moments when we feel truly seen, heard, and accepted, when we no longer have to carry our stories alone."

I am Maryam, a registered counsellor working with both ACC Sensitive Claims clients and people seeking counselling for a range of personal and emotional concerns.

At the heart of my practice is a deep belief in the healing potential of safe and meaningful relationships. I understand that each person's story is unique and shaped not only by their experiences, but also by their culture, values, relationships, and the wider systems they are part of. My hope is to create a space where you feel welcomed as a whole person, where your experiences are honoured with compassion, curiosity, and respect.

I am passionate about supporting people to reconnect with themselves, their strengths, and what matters most to them. Together, we will work at a pace that feels safe and meaningful for you, recognising that healing is not about becoming someone different, but often about rediscovering who you are beneath life's challenges and experiences.

I am committed to walking alongside clients in ways that feel respectful, collaborative, and empowering throughout their journey of change, recovery, and growth.

My practice is grounded in humanistic and trauma-informed principles, drawing on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) when this approach aligns with your needs. Above all, I believe that therapy is a collaborative process, you are the expert in your own life, and my role is to support you in moving towards greater understanding, connection, and well-being in ways that feel meaningful and sustainable for you.
