Dr Kessiah (Kess) Hunt

Kess has been a Clinical Psychologist for 11 years and has worked in both public and private settings, with people of various ages, ethnicities, and backgrounds. Kess sees clients for therapy and also conducts assessments for ACC and the Family Court. Kess has worked in private practice since 2019. She has worked in the public sector for Child and Adolescent services, as well as the General Surgery (bariatric) services at Auckland Hospital.

Kess is trained in a range of therapeutic approaches and draws on these flexibly, depending on what is most helpful for the person she is working with. She enjoys collaborating with clients to find an approach that suits the individual and supports meaningful change. As well as seeing clients for individual therapy, Kess has recently joined the clinical team at Turning Tides (intensive EMDR therapy programme).

Prior to training as a Clinical Psychologist, Kess completed a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Employment Relations, and spent 8 years working in Human Resources in the corporate legal and banking areas. During this time, Kess volunteered as a telephone counsellor at Youthline and Samaritans (UK), as well as roles supporting survivors of brain injury. Her doctoral research is in the field of family therapy for brain injury survivors and their whānau.
