Komal Riaz

I am a member of the New Zealand Association of Counsellors (NZAC) and Addiction Practitioners' Association Aotearoa New Zealand (DAPAANZ) with a master’s degree in Psychology and several years of experience providing mental health support across diverse clinical settings. My background includes working with individuals and families presenting with trauma, anxiety, depression, adjustment difficulties, and significant life stressors. I have experience in crisis intervention, psychological assessment, and delivering both individual and group-based therapeutic support.

My practice is guided by evidence-based modalities, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Focused ACT (FACT). I aim to create a safe, non-judgmental, and collaborative space where clients feel heard, supported, and empowered to explore their experiences at their own pace. My approach is compassionate, culturally responsive, and centred on supporting clients to build resilience, develop meaningful coping strategies, and move toward improved wellbeing and quality of life.
