Megan-Lee Spence-Ross

Megan-Lee is an Educational Psychologist originally from South Africa, now based in New Zealand. She has over ten years of experience working with children, adolescents, and young adults across schools, private practice, and in supporting at-risk youth in state care and their whānau.

She is passionate about helping people navigate challenges such as anxiety (including generalised anxiety), ADHD, low mood, and depression. Megan-Lee is a rainbow-friendly, trauma-informed practitioner who creates a warm, safe, and accepting space where clients can show up exactly as they are.

Megan-Lee believes that people are the experts in their own lives, and that with the right support, they can better understand themselves, build on their strengths, and create meaningful, lasting change.

Her approach is collaborative, flexible, and tailored to each individual. She draws from a range of therapeutic modalities including CBT, ACT, DBT-informed skills, solution-focused therapy, narrative work, and creative approaches such as expressive arts, sandtray, and play-based therapy. This allows her to meet clients where they are, rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach.

Working with Megan-Lee is relaxed and client-led, with no pressure to have everything figured out. She focuses on helping clients feel heard and supported, while also offering practical strategies to manage overwhelming thoughts, build routines that work for their brain, and feel more in control day-to-day. She values flexibility and creativity in her work, recognising that therapy does not always have to feel heavy.

Outside of her work, Megan-Lee enjoys creative outlets such as art and music, as well as spending time at the beach and sharing good food with family and whānau.
